NASA Hacker Is Extradited To US

When will the hackers learn? It was a pretty cool, and hip concept in the 80’s, unless you watched Revenge of the Nerds then it wasn’t so cool. Hacking has really changed over the years, as it used to be that a hacker wasn’t taken all that serious. Now, Gary McKinnon who was accused of hacking into NASA could be facing 60 years in prison.

The call for extradition was made when it was discovered that a Briton, by the name of Gary McKinnon hacked into 97 military and NASA based computers. Hacking into just one of these computers is crazy enough, but 97?!? Some people should just learn to stop while they’re ahead.

When McKinnon’s case came up and found out he was to be extradited, his legal team instantly filed an appeal. The appeal to the extradition stated that it would be in violation of his human rights. McKinnon has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, and the move would bring about a massive amount of stress. Not to mention being torn away from his family.

Now that his appeal has been lifted, McKinnon now has two weeks before his long plane ride to the US. If he’s uncooperative, he could be facing life in an American prison. Which isn’t surprising considering analysts say it was the biggest hack in US history.
