Google Android Phone Coming In September?
Google’s Android mobile phone software seems like its been in the lime light for awhile now. We’ve heard some great things from different wireless conferences about how Google Android is going to storm into the market. We’ve still yet to see Google Android in action, but that could all be changing if you’re to believe a rumor from TmoNews.
According to the site we could be getting our Google Android fix as soon as September 17th. TmoNews writes that they have credible sources that say the Google Android HTC G1; the unofficial name of the handset will be available mid-September. The site not just offers a release date but a pricing model for the new handset. The retail cost of the ‘G1′ phone is $399, but will only cost $150 with a two year contract.
When September comes around the G1 will be available in pre-sell form. This basically means that only existing T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase the G1. About a month after the pre-sale then everyone will be privy to the Google Android handset.
The G1 will feature 3G services, on T-Mobiles network. The only problem is you only get the benefits of 3G service if you’re in New York or Las Vegas. T-Mobile is expanding their service and hope to have 3G in 20-25 cities soon.
Of course all of this is only speculation at the moment. T-Mobile hasn’t officially announced anything, and according to a lot of tech sites the phone has been delayed to 2009. But it’s always fun to dream; isn’t it?
Have your say
