Rocket Racing League…Start Your Engines

If there’s one nearly universal truth about Americans, it’s that we like to live fast. We’re always breaking the speed limit, we keep developing technologies to make activities be accomplished faster. Now it looks as though our competitive racing has increased its’ speed.

The Rocket Racing League is looking to take racing off the wheels of cars, and into jet engines in the sky. The start-up league will have its’ first exhibition race in early August, in Oshkosh, WI. The Rocket Racing League was founded in 2005, but hasn’t seen any kind of racing, until now. The league was co-founded by Granger Whitelaw, and Peter Diamandis.

The races will take place in closed circuit raceways, which happen to be thousands of feet in the air. Each race will feature 10 pilots, the race will have 4 laps around a 5 mile “track”. The competition will be setup in an elimination heat, with each pilot going head-to-head against one another.
