Talking Robot Babies - They Grow Up So Fast

Over the years we’ve seen the evolution of baby dolls, ones that go to the bathroom, ones that cry, and so on and so forth. Now the University of Plymouth is in a development of a robot baby that could have the capability of actually learning to speak. It should be noted this robot baby is being used for research purposes, unlike baby dolls that are sold in toy stores.

The robot is called iCub, which is definitely robotic by nature but has some humanoid features. The research is slated to go on for four years, with robot experts and language specialists. With the research, they are hoping it will be come possible to one day teach AI powered robots to learn, think and talk.

The iCub on top of learning to talk, will learn alot of other activities that human babies learn as they grow up. From learning how to play with blocks, to inserting correct block shapes into the right shape holes (who doesn’t remember that classic).

So it looks as though the beginning of the robotic AI revolution is beginning. While talks about learning robots, and highly developed AI has been talked about in movies it looks as though it will be coming to the real world in the coming years.
