Good News and Bad News For Net Junkies
The bad news first: If you live in the Middle East, Egypt, or India, you’re probably not reading this blog as you most likely have no internet connectivity. Those big cables at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea? Cut. Maybe by an anchor. Or maybe Al Qaeda learned to scuba dive. Either way about half of the entire region is without Internet, and Indian call centers are forced to reroute.
Now the good news: The minimum bid was met at the 700 MHz auction, meaning that Google can force open wireless networks so telcos will have a harder time wrangling you into contracts and telling you what you can and can’t do with your phone. So there, :-p
Have your say
